McLaughlin’s Garden City Nursery, Inc. was founded in 1975 by Thomas McLaughlin. After moving his family to Fort Myers from Lake Forest, Illinois, Thomas started raising and selling plants from his property; he soon opened several retail locations across the county. Longtime residents of Fort Myers may remember the store that operated on US 41 across from Pagefield Airport.

Through the years the company developed and grew, adding landscaping and lawn maintenance services. Glamour Pools was acquired in 1988, adding pool maintenance and repairs to the growing list of home services provided.

Thomas retired in 2000 and left the company in the capable hands of the next generation of McLaughlin’s.

Today Terrence McLaughlin, Margaret McLaughlin-Sapp, her husband, Rick Sapp, and Tim McLaughlin continue to be involved in the business, maintaining the level of service customers have come to expect from McLaughlin’s. After 40 years in business, the family has extensive knowledge of how best to treat plants, pests, and pools in the semi-tropical climate of Southwest Florida.
